I keep reading about waiting for 6 months to a year but I have have never encountered any problems. Personally I upgrade to a new OS within a few weeks of release. Someone discovered a back door leak and there was huge security update about a month. When Monterey comes out, it and only Catalina and Big Sur will be supported. Apple only supports the current and two previous versions. So LR has to be installed on an older version like Mojave or earlier and then you can upgrade to a newer OS.Īlso I'm not sure how important security is to you. The issue is while they are 64 bit capable the installer is 32 bit. Monterey is around the corner, all are 64 bit.
You can't install LR5 or LR6 on Catalina or Big Sur. Like Levina stated it will run on newer versions but might has issues. The only reason I'm saying it might be time to move on as LR5 is it's 12 years old. I just did a quick search for free software. Even Macs photo editor is pretty good I read.
There have been so many changes since LR5 was introduced. I never use it but I couldn't pass it up at that price. I got mine for $25 but that was a few years ago. Look for deals on Affinity which is like PS. If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.If you don't use it much I'd look into an alternative, unless you really need LR's DAM.
